Recruiting and retaining employees is a key part of any successful business. To continue growing your business you will always be recruiting. There will be plenty of applicants to choose from and you will be able to find the right person for the job who will be able to meet all of your qualifications and needs for the position.

With all the technology available today, the cost of recruiting has decreased immensely. Social media gives you access to billions of people and thousands of groups full of potential job applicants, giving you a very large pool of talent to choose from.  You can use your company Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram, and more for recruiting. There are also many social media sites that offer recruiting services:

  • LinkedIn’s Recruiter app gives you access to contact anyone on LinkedIn and search for the perfect talent for your position.
  • Zip Recruiter allows you to post on over 100 job boards with only one submission and then matches your job to the right job seekers; it is used by many fortune 500 companies to fill positions.
  • Dice breaks down jobs based on professions and industries to help job seekers and businesses, it is typically used by those wanting to advance in their field.
  • Recruiter is a global recruitment platform which helps recruitment professionals find job seekers and offers advice, connection opportunities, and more.
  • Glassdoor is a recruitment website that focuses more on selling the business than the job; it allows employees to rate their employers and give feedback on the company.  Creating a positive work environment that people enjoy can make this great leverage in recruiting.

These are only a few of the many social media recruitment tools available online!

There are a few things you need to keep in mind when you are recruiting for your business. First, you want to sell job seekers on your business by offering selling points on why your business is the best place to work.  Do you offer flexible scheduling? Good medical insurance? Quick advancement in the company? If so, those are the points you need to mention to highlight the benefits of working for your business. Make sure to use your website to provide detailed information for job seekers by including the mission, values, history, and culture of your business. This is not only a great way to increase your visibility, but also to allow job seekers to have a better understanding of what your company is about.  Visibility is also very important, job seekers tend to feel more confident in working for businesses they are familiar with or have heard about. Finally, you need to make sure you are always thinking of new and different ways to connect with job seekers.  Avoid constantly using the same websites and job boards; make sure to change up the way you are reaching out to people in order to reach the most people as possible.
