Getting Started

Illinois workNet service partners can add their organization's services or referral information to the Service Finder Tool. Submitting this information is free for any partner with an Illinois workNet account. By adding your organization to the Service Finder, you can connect with potential customers in your community who would benefit with the services your organization provides.

Information included in the Service Finder should fall under one of these two categories:

  1. Illinois workNet Partner locations offer services to help adults, youth, students, dislocated workers, employers, educators, or workforce partners with achieving career, employment, and training goals.
  2. Work Support Referrals offer specialized services that help community members get into or stay in the workforce.

Here are steps you will need to take to submit your page to the Service Finder:

  1. Login to your Illinois workNet account (if you do not have one, you can create a free account by clicking Sign Up at the top of the screen).
  2. Navigate to the Service Finder page listed under Network & Connect  in the workNet dropdown Menu.
  3. On the Service Finder page, select the "Add or Edit Locations" option.
  4. Complete and submit the location and service information. An Illinois workNet Coordinator will review and approve or deny the site. They may also call or email the contact(s) identified in the request to confirm information.
  5. Once approved, you will be granted a Partner Account and your site will appear in both the Service Finder
Step-by-step instructions can be found under the Resources section of this page.

All entries are reviewed to ensure they are legitimate.

Managing Site Information

Once your site is approved, the designated primary and secondary contacts (if applicable) can manage service or referral information at any time. We understand that accurate information is important, so we will send out an automatic email notice every six months to make sure the information is accurate.

  1. Login to your Illinois workNet partner account.
  2. Select My Dashboard and then select Service Finder Administration under the Partner Tools section.
  3. On the Dashboard, you will have a list of Partner sites that you have added to the Service Finder. Select the Edit button next to the site to make any updates.

Step-by-step instructions can be found under the Resources section of this page

Generating and Using Site-Specific URLs

Once your site has been set up and approved within the Illinois workNet Service Finder, the designated primary and secondary contacts will have the ability to generate a site-specific URL. The site-specific URL allows each site to track their customers' usage of Illinois workNet. The site-specific URL should be set as the homepage on the computers your customers use, typically in your resource room.

Once the site-specific URL has been set as the home page, it will begin tracking the usage of workNet. The designated primary and secondary contacts of the location can access the usage report within the Service Finder from the Usage Report tab. LWIA managers and coordinators have access to see the counts for all sites within their LWIA, and DCEO state level staff have the ability to see the counts for all sites within the Service Finder. For additional information on generating a unique URL and using the report check out the Site-specific URL Instructions.
