Apprenticeship 101 Workshop

Add to Calendar 1:00 PM 2/25/20195:00 PM America/Chicago Apprenticeship 101 Workshop
Apprenticeships are proven workforce development tools that offer valuable opportunities to both workers and businesses in today’s economy. However, for apprenticeships to successfully reach a diverse  population, people starting an apprenticeship may need support in overcoming significant barriers. Services providers and community organizations are critical to the success of this winning model for job seekers, employers, and the economy.

With the support of the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity, The Chicago Jobs Council and Young Invincibles are leading a series of Apprenticeship 101 Workshops all across the state of Illinois. These half-day workshops are aimed at helping community-based workforce organizations learn about the basics of apprenticeship models, their role in supporting the diverse and equitable apprenticeships, and how to take advantage of the opportunities related to apprenticeship in Illinois.

Attendees of the Apprenticeship 101 workshop will be invited to participate in our “Apprenticeship 201” workshops starting in April 2019. Apprenticeship 201 will be a full-day workshop designed to help organizations create a plan for how to start or improve their own

After attending this free workshop, you will:

  • Have an extensive knowledge of the terminology surrounding apprenticeship programs and how they currently operate in Illinois.
  • Understand best practices associated with Illinois’ four apprenticeship models: pre-apprenticeships, youth apprenticeships, non-registered apprenticeships, and registered apprenticeships.
