About this Event

In the increasingly diverse and globalized world in which we live, it is inevitable that we will find ourselves engaged in interactions with employees and customers different from ourselves. Because culture influences our perceptions, values, and the ways in which we communicate, misunderstandings and conflict are likely to occur in today’s diverse workplace which can negatively impact productivity and organizational culture

This workshop will help develop cultural awareness and communication competency in order to prepare individuals to be empowering leaders to the increasingly diverse workforce of today. We will also share why organizations that invest in making their workplace more diverse and inclusive tend to be more profitable and successful when compared to their peers.

Featuring Guest Speaker Cindu Thomas-George

Cindu Thomas-George is the Founder and Principal Trainer of Shakti Diversity and Equity Training. In her role as Principal Trainer, she designs and facilitates professional development experiences that promote equity, inclusion, anti-racism, and cultural competence in order to help create inclusive and equitable organizations for today's increasingly diverse workforce. Cindu is an award winning tenured professor of Communication Studies at the College of Lake County specializing in Intercultural Communication, Public Speaking, and Online learning.
