Carri came to our WIOA office seeking financial assistance to attend the adult CNA class at the Livingston Area Career Center. She is a single mother and was working at the time but was not earning a self-sufficient wage, and as a result was a SNAP and medical card recipient. Carri was able to successfully complete the CNA course at the Livingston Area Career Center over the summer and sit for the state competency exam. Carri passed her exam and within days was promoted to a certified nurse’s assistant at her current employer. As a result, she was able reach financial self-sufficiency and no longer relies on SNAP and medical card as a means to live.
