Blasters must be licensed by the Blasting and Explosives Division of the Illinois Department of Natural Resources, Office of Mines and Minerals. The applicant must:

• successfully complete a blaster training course;
• have at least two years of blasting experience; and,
• pass a written examination.

Recertification is required every five years.
