Although not required, taking the national certification examination is strongly recommended for dental assisting graduates. This exam is given by the Dental Assisting National Board. Passing the test grants you the Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) title.

Some states may have their own certification and registration requirements as well.

You are expected to pay for your own uniforms for clinical externships.
