It will be very helpful to know a second language. Even if this is not the language used in the country of your mission, you will be able to communicate with more people. You will have greater appreciation for foreign cultures. Also, many of the concepts you learn when you study one language carry over to study of another.

Foreign travel may also be helpful experience. It gets you accustomed to cultural differences.

Some countries want to keep out foreign missionaries. They may be unwilling to grant you a visa for long-term stay if your college degree is in missions or some other religious field. They may also raise objections if the name of the institution is obviously religious.
