Program Description

This program prepares students for a successful and fulfilling career as a dialysis technician. Students learn how to provide quality care for patients in need of dialysis. Dialysis is the treatment required to cleanse the blood of toxins and excess fluids. Participants will learn how to function as a dialysis technician with proficient clinical skills and a understanding of nephrology care. This course will also provide students with a basic knowledge of machine technology, water treatment, dialyzer reprocessing and educational development. Students will be prepared to function as a dialysis technician under the supervision of the registered nurse or physician in a dialysis facility that provides dialysis treatment to the individuals diagnosed with acute or chronic kidney disease. Upon completion of the course the student is prepared to take the certification examination to be a certified dialysis technician.

Application Procedure

Participants must meet WIOA eligibility requirements. Potential students are expected to have one year medical experience as a Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant, EMT or other work related experience in the medical field. Costs are subject to change. This class is offered through the Triton College Continuing Education Department. For information, please call (708) 456-0300 X3500. This program now contains a six week Office Technology component and a CPR Refresher if needed. Costs for certification exams are the responsibility of the participant or the Service Provider sending the ITA and not Triton College. Cost for Tuition, Books and Fees are subject to change. Students may need to take the HTH C82 CPR/AED Certification class if they are not CPR Certified or if their certification has lapsed. The maximum tuition and fees amount approved for this occupation is $3,000.

  • Writing - Must take Triton College placement test
  • Prerequisites - Must have one year of medical field experience and approval of program director
