Program Description

This 16-credit-hour certificate prepares students or graduates of direct patient care programs to perform and interpret rhythm and 12-lead ECGs. It provides training in telemetry surveillance, holter monitoring and maximal stress testing. This certificate enhances the skill set an employability of direct patient care providers such as nurses and medical office assistants working in the cardiology arena. It also prepares graduates for the Cardiographic Technician examination and credential offered by Cardiovascular Credentialing International: http:/cci-online.org/cci/credentials/CCT_certified_cardiographic_technician/CCI/Certification/CCT.aspx? Due to the nature of clinical experiences and individualized instruction required in this program, and the specialized technology and equipment necessary, a higher tuition rate will be assessed for the career-specific courses wit the CGT prefix. Tuition for these courses will be 200% of the standard tuition rate. Cardiographic Technician is a limited enrollment program. Upon approval by funding agency to attend Harper, clients will contact Diane Carter-Zubko for application fee-waiver and referral to appropriate advising office. The maximum tuition and fees amount approved for this occupation is $8,000.
