Program Description

This 17 credit hour certificate program prepares students for positions as business office administrative assistants. Students are introduced to advanced work processing and spreadsheets, to use of the internet including Web browsing and e-mail, and to the integrated use of word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software. Students are also introduced to computer skills and business management principles and to business writing. This certificate is the second in a two-certificate sequence: Office Assistant and Administrative Assistant.

Application Procedure

WIOA and TAA students need to contact the Harper College Workforce Coordinator at (847) 925-6782 or WIOA@harpercollege.edu. A separate book voucher is required for Follett Bookstore #1341 on campus. Books can be ship if requested for a small fee. Each semester, all Cook County WIOA sending agency case managers must supply the Harper College Workforce Coordinator with a Semester Training Schedule Approval Form that lists the courses the client will be taking that semester, and this must match the client's Harper Educational Plan.4 The maximum tuition and fees amount approved for this occupation is $3,000.

Entry Requirements:

  • Reading - Per Placement Test Cut-off Scores
  • Language - All instruction is in English
  • Writing - Must have completed ENG 100 or achieve placement test
